Some Family Time

Family time seems to be at a premium anymore. So, when some of us can get together it's great. This past Monday was one of those special times captured here. Angie, Joanie, Bill, Lois and Katy's little boy, Baylor. Katie snapped this picture just as they were leaving.

If you live to be a 100 they will bake you a special cake! with quilt blocks on it.

If you live to be 100 your family and friends will help you celebrate with a Birthday quilt.

If you live to be 100 they will surprise you on your special day.

If you live to be hundred you will surprise everyone! And play Happy Birthday on your Saxophone!

Happy 100th Birthday Dearest Dolly!

Dolly is a long time member of our local quilt guild. Family members and guild members surprised her recently at our last meeting with a special birthday celebration by presenting her with a friendship block quilt bearing many good wishes and two wonderful birthday cakes. Dolly has had an astounding and interesting life. She traveled the world with her father who was magician. She performed in the magic show along with her family and also provided the music. These days Dolly no longer quilts. Instead she knits hundreds of preemie hats which are donated to the local hospitals. The day of the surprise birthday party she arrived with 75 preemie hats she had knitted! Always smiling she is an inspiration to us all---

Summer Growth Spurt!

This little cutie showed up at our bedroom window one evening in early June of this year.

Then----

And now---

He, or is it she, comes by for a weekly visit with Mom. This was taken from the kitchen window this past week.

Design Wall Monday

I haven't posted about what's on the design wall for weeks. Not that much has changed. I've been machine quilting more than piecing. Amanda and I have finished all the Hot Diggity Dog blocks and she is now adding the log cabin type strips to all the blocks when we get to spend time together. You can visit some more wonderful blogger design walls at Patchwork Times.

Secret Surprise Quilt
I finished the quilting on this special project this past week and now I'm working on the binding. I'll post more about this quilt once it's gifted to the special someone. I've hopefully deleted all the text from the signature blocks so it will remain a surprise. It's been fun! :o)

Here is the view from our kitchen sink window looking east and down the property and across the Laguna de Santa Rosa. I spend a lot time washing food and cleaning up after meals and simply gazing and day dreaming out this window.
