British Sewing Show

I don't know how I've missed hearing or seeing this series of sewing programs, "The Great British Sewing Bee" but I found out about it just a few days ago and I've been glued to my iPad watching the series on You Tube. (The BBC channel player is not working)

The show is wonderful!!!

It's sort of a the english version of "project runway",  only much-much more interesting and entertaining!

Here are the links to the four shows of the 1st series on You Tube videos.

I found it from Gertie's blog for better sewing, and am in love with the show! I am trying to learn how to sew clothing for myself (I can do simple things right now), and it's inspiring to see what home sewers are doing. I like it better than Project Runway- you can wear the clothes out in public! LOL

Angie, I am *so* grateful that you posted these links. I had seen one blog? advertisement? announcement? for this and passed it up.

I have been SO disappointed in Project Runway's presentation. I just *hate* the drama and the backstabbing and the dreadful things the designers are assigned. There is *nothing* about the process of design .. just the contention between designers.

BUT ... this British Sewing Bee is *fantastic*. They actually show the process of sewing and elaborate on what the judges are looking for. The judges' commentary isn't snarky or glib, but thoughtful, considerate, *accurate* assessments of the garments.

I've only watched the 1st episode so far and so hope the subsequent episodes live up to the first one's presentation.

Thank you so much for blogging about it. :-)

Thanks so much for posting this Angie the first video I watched was a delight! I'm looking forward to seeing them all. Hope you don't mind if I tell my blog readers about them too, they're so fun and informative and the people all seem so nice - refreshing.

Fantastic! I had completely forgotten about this but, thanks to your links, I watched all four episodes. I found my self cheering "Ann! Ann! Ann!" before they announced the winner.
How encouraging and genteel the judges are throughout the competition. Very fun, thank you for the reminder and the links!!
